Our Beliefs

We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.

  • The Word of God

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

  • The Trinity

We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.

  • God the Father

We believe in God, the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of all people, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

  • Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal, visible return to earth.

  • Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.

  • Regeneration

We believe that all people are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit.

  • The Church

We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible confession of faith, and associated for worship, work, and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.

  • Christian Conduct

We believe that Christians should live for the glory of God and the well-being of others; that their conduct should be blameless before the world; that they should be faithful stewards of their possessions; and that they should seek to realize for themselves and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.

  • The Ordinances

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church; baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Religious Liberty

We believe that every human being has direct relations with God, and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith; that each church is independent and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; that therefore Church and State must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from dictation or patronage of each other.

  • Church Cooperation

We believe that local churches can best promote the cause of Jesus Christ by cooperation with one another in a denominational organization. Such an organization, whether a regional or district conference, exists and functions by the will of the churches. Cooperation in a conference is voluntary and may be terminated at any time. Churches may likewise cooperate with interdenominational fellowships on a voluntary basis.

  • The Last Things

We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal felicity of the righteous and the endless suffering of the wicked.

  • Marriage

We believe at creation God instituted marriage for the well-being of humanity. We believe that marriage is the joining of one man and one woman into a lifelong relationship which the Scriptures call “one flesh.”

Our Method

At Calvary, we’ve created a Pathway to help us encourage each other to follow Jesus in every area of our lives. We call it S3 Discipleship because we... SYNC, SERVE and SHARE

  • SYNC

Just as a computer needs updates to correct bugs and glitches, we need updates from God. We need God’s forgiveness through Jesus to wipe away our errors and failures. We need His guidance through the Holy Spirit directing us more in alignment with God. We desire to be in step with God in everything we do. We worship God together to renew our minds, we study God’s Word to understand His ways, we pray to receive God’s empowerment. We want our lives to reflect God just as Jesus was the visible image of the Father. We SYNC to God by loving Him with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength.

  • SERVE

Knowing that Jesus paid for our sin and we have an incredible hope of always being with God, we are empowered to love each other. Jesus commanded that we love other followers in Jesus as Jesus loved us. We do this by serving each other. Sometimes that’s a ministry, sometimes its relating or caring for needs. We believe the Spirit gifts each follower to serve and contribute to the church's health. We love to help each other find the role that sends our spirit soaring.

  • SHARE

We are commanded to take our hope with us wherever we go. We challenge and encourage each other to share stories of God working in our lives. Sometimes it's answered prayer, sometimes it's how God transformed our lives. By sharing with each other we look to push one another to share with our neighbors and friends too. We want everyone sharing even the simple things they learned about God with those who don’t know Him yet. We even encourage generosity and hospitality wherever possible.

Values

Our values help guide our ministries and direction. We’d encourage you to take a moment and look through our values. We’d love to hear your feedback.

  • Togetherness

Relationships are primary. God is relational. He made us in His Image. Jesus told us to love one another. We take that to mean we should be together to care for each other. Afteral, how can you love if you are never together? Jesus also gave us the Spirit to empower us to serve. We even do that together, so no one is alone with the weight of a ministry or task all on them.

  • Honesty

We expect radical honesty. God made us light to expose the darkness. We will address any sin and cleanse it with the grace of Jesus through His blood. Hiding is not an option for us. It’s too risky, giving Satan, temptation, and sin a foothold to cause division and destruction. We all need grace. So we are honest and truthful.

  • Generosity

Jesus has given us hope and a future. We want to be generous to others. Generous with our time, treasure and talent. When things get tough, we respond with grace. Not because people deserve it. We sure didn’t deserve God’s grace.

  • Development

We want everyone to grow closer to God. We don’t want to sit back and be comfortable and secure. The only way to grow our faith is to take chances. Anyone willing to step out in faith will find training to help them follow God to the next level.

  • Creativity

Our God is creative. He made the whole world and its vast diversity. Even in history, God repeats lessons of trustworthiness but He’s too creative to do the exact same thing twice. We are always looking for creative ways to show Jesus to our community. Whether its the latest Sermon Series or a new event, join us in creatively pointing to our Savior.
